Irish analysis on speed limits and emissions is ‘not in line’ with research across Europe

Ireland’s motorways: the Green Party secured a commitment in the programme for government to examine the climate impact of reducing speed limits on motorways.

European researchers and Green Party politicians have hit back at a study by Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) which concluded that reducing speed limits on national roads would have a negligible impact on emissions and could result in more road deaths every year.
