Ireland to remain EU's fastest growing economy until the end of next year, say EU chiefs

European Commission predicts we will expand by 6 per cent this year - outstripping EU average by 1.9 per cent

Ireland will remain the EU’s fastest growing economy this year and next year, the European Commission has predicted in its autumn economic forecast.

It said the Irish economy will expand by 6 per cent this year – outperforming the EU average of 1.9 per cent, mainly due to thriving exports and high consumer spending.
