Ireland ranks bottom of EU table for renewable energy use

Ireland has ranked bottom of the table of EU 27 countries in terms of the proportion of its energy consumption coming from renewable sources.

According to new figures from Eurostat, just 13.1 per cent of Ireland’s energy came from renewable sources in 2022 - marginally up from 12.3 per cent in 2021 but down from 16.1 per cent in 2020.
