Intel Ireland starts compulsory redundancies in new round of job cuts

Around 30 staff will be affected as the semiconductor giant seeks to rein in its costs

Intel has informed the government that it has begun a second round of layoffs, with around 30 compulsory redundancies affecting staff at its Irish operation, the Business Post has learned.

The semiconductor giant yesterday formally notified Simon Coveney, the Minister for Enterprise, of collective redundancies, as it is required to do under Irish legislation. A spokeswoman for the Department of Enterprise confirmed that Intel had issued the notice.
