Independent TDs make local demands in exchange for backing Harris as taoiseach
Fine Gael’s new leader has ruled out transactional deals, but confirmed he will meet with several Independents who previously supported the government
Simon Harris is meeting with several Independent TDs this week to try convince them to vote for him as taoiseach next Tuesday.
The new leader of Fine Gael already began meeting some Independent TDs on Tuesday, with more meeting scheduled later in the week.
The Business Post revealed last week that a number of TDs who had previously supported the government in key votes were either undecided or unwilling to vote for Harris.
