Bulgaria’s Kristalina Georgieva has received the unanimous support of all 27 EU finance ministers, including Michael McGrath, to serve a second term as International Monetary Fund chief.

There was “no remark from any country” about the matter, Belgian finance minister Vincent Van Peteghem said ahead of a meeting in Brussels on Tuesday.

The decision ends speculation that public expenditure minister Paschal Donohoe could have taken over from Georgieva when her term runs out in September.
