ICG chief gave shares worth €40m to wife in ‘off-market’ transaction

The move has reduced Eamonn Rothwell’s personal stake in the company behind the Irish Ferries from 17.39 per cent to 12.38 per cent

Eamonn Rothwell, the chief executive of Irish Continental Group (ICG), has transferred €40 million worth of shares in the company to his wife, Clodagh Moreland.

The transaction took place on Friday and reduced Rothwell’s personal stake in the company, which is behind the Irish Ferries business, from 17.39 per cent to 12.38 per cent.

That stake, at ICG’s current share price of around €4.70, would be worth just under €100 million.
