Ibec, the business lobby group, has called for property taxes to be used to cut development levies.

The organisation claimed the move, along with several other fiscal policy changes, would reduce the cost of a typical €400,000 new home by €30,000.

In a report published today, Ibec said the government must “urgently deliver a suite of ambitious policies” to speed up the delivery of housing.
