Health service chief says there is ‘no question’ about HSE requiring ‘substantial’ bailout

HSE spending is €700 million over the record €24 billion allotted to the health service in Budget 2023, according to Bernard Gloster.

The HSE chief executive avoided answering whether the health service will need the €1 billion state bailout it is widely anticipated it requires, but did say that the service intends on asking for a larger budget in next month’s government package.
