HSE ‘failed to prevent cyber attack despite detecting hacker activity’

Some 80% of the HSE’s IT systems were affected by the May attack and key patient information was lost

Serious deficiencies within the HSE’s internal structures must be addressed in order to mitigate against future cyber attacks, a report has warned.

The warning comes after the report that the HSE failed to prevent a devastating attack on its systems earlier this year despite detecting the attacker’s activity.
