Homebuyers only purchased just 523 of the 9,100 apartments built in Dublin last year, a new analysis has shown.

The analysis by the Banking and Payments Federation Ireland (BPFI) said the majority of apartments in the city are being acquired by private rental sector investors and state bodies, who acquire homes to provide social and affordable housing.

Last year, apartment building dominated housebuilding activity in Dublin, with more than seven in ten new homes apartments. ...
