Finances of wider charity sector set to come under scrutiny by homeless executive

A probe into ongoing financial issues at Peter McVerry Trust, the housing and homeless charity, has been escalated after the Department of Housing set up a high-level group chaired by an independent governance and legal expert.

The body has been tasked with reviewing recommendations from auditor PwC, who were appointed by the Dublin Region Homeless Executive (DRHE) to conduct a financial and governance review of the cash-strapped charity after issues first emerged in August.
