Heather Humphreys, minister for social protection, will this week invite firms to tender for the contract to run the state’s landmark new auto-enrolment scheme.

The minister said the scheme, which has been beset by delays since first mooted in 2006, would definitely be rolled out by the end of the year.

“I’m here today to tell you all, loud and clear - 2024 is going to be the year auto-enrolment is delivered,” she told the National Pensions Summit in Croke Park, hosted by iQuest and Business Post Live, on Thursday.
