Government will need €3bn budget bailouts for departments this year

Additional funding is needed for health overspend, the Ukrainian refugee crisis and cost of living measures

The government will require close to €3 billion in emergency budget bailouts before the end of this year to pay for the health overspend, the refugee crisis and cost of living measures.

The funding to cover these shortfalls comes just days after the €14 billion budget package was announced for next year by Michael McGrath, the Minister for Finance and Paschal Donohoe, the Minister for Public Expenditure.
