The government is to prepare new laws which will axe the ‘triple lock’ for Irish overseas military operations.
Tánaiste Micheál Martin has announced that his officials will prepare legislation which will remove Ireland’s adherence to the ‘triple lock’, which is a requirement of any overseas peacekeeping mission by the Irish Defence Forces to be approved by three bodies: the Oireachtas, the government, and the United Nations.
