Government to launch legal proceedings over Britain’s Troubles legacy legislation

The Irish government is to launch legal proceedings against the British government over its legacy bill, Tánaiste Micheál Martin has announced.

The controversial Northern Ireland Troubles (Legacy and Reconciliation) Bill was enacted in September and aims to provide conditional immunity from prosecution for anyone who cooperates with a new information recovery body, as well as bringing to an end all other legal proceedings concerning Troubles-related conduct to make way for an information recovery and reconciliation ...
