Government predicted to miss housing targets as builders hit by inflation

Consultants said significant cost increases mean that many developers face a ‘viability challenge’

There is a “significant risk” that the state will not meet its target to build 29,000 homes in 2023, a new report by Aecom, the construction consultancy, has said.

Under the government’s Housing for All plan, it has targeted to deliver 29,000 new homes in 2023. Last year, the government said it expected to exceed its target of 24,600 new homes built in the year.
