Global competitiveness rankings underestimate Irish economy, says watchdog
National Competitiveness and Productivity Council says Ireland deserves a 10 place boost global indices ranking competitiveness
Ireland’s economy deserves to be 10 places higher in global innovation rankings, the National Competitiveness and Productivity Council (NCC) has said.
The 2023 Global Innovation Index (GII) ranked Ireland 22nd overall and 10th among members of the European Union.
The index, which looks at the ability of different economies to respond to economic opportunity, measures factors such as infrastructure, institutional robustness, human capital and knowledge and technology.
