Glass Bottle affordable homes plans shattered as Nama sells rest of stake

TDs fear Poolbeg development will become a ‘bachelor’s paradise’ if locals are priced out after ministers were blindsided by the sale to Johnny Ronan-led consortium

Johnny Ronan's consortium was granted permission last year to start building the first 570 homes at the Poolbeg peninsula

On the last day of June, shortly after 7pm on a Friday, a press release was sent from a spokesman for Nama.

The release was short and to the point: “Nama sells remaining 20 per cent stake in Irish Glass Bottle project.”

A consortium led by developer Johnny Ronan had bought the agency out of its holding in the last major strategic housing site in the capital city. It now owned the full lands outright.
