Gas Network Ireland’s budget increased to €2.2bn to meet ‘growing gas demand’

The semi-state operator of the gas grid has been awarded a substantial increase in its multi-year budget to meet increasing gas demand over the coming decade

The energy regulator has signed off on an expanded multibillion-euro budget for Gas Networks Ireland (GNI) over the next five years to meet “growing gas demand” in the Irish economy.

Earlier this week, the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) announced it had approved a five-year budget of more than €2.2 billion for GNI up to 2027, which is an increase of more than €200 million on the semi-state company’s previous budget.
