Garda docked sick pay after absence over alleged bullying

A garda out on sick leave as a result of alleged bullying and racist abuse was told he had been overpaid by €13,000 and that the money would be deducted from his salary, the High Court has heard.

Deming Gao, a naturalised Irish citizen who is originally from China, has brought a legal challenge claiming his illness was unlawfully reclassified from a work-related illness to an ordinary illness without any reasons being given.
