An architect best known for his work on Croke Park has said he is “flummoxed” by Dublin City Council’s decision to reject developer Johnny Ronan’s plans to build Dublin’s tallest building.

Des McMahon said the building would have had the power to “become a catalyst for urban development” for the area on the Liffey quays where, he said, “you have a fairly tacky immediate environment”.
