Fingal boss warns directly elected Dublin Mayor would complicate political relations

The head of Fingal County Council has said there is a “realistic fear” that a directly elected mayor of Dublin would create “further complexity” between local authorities and central government.

Earlier this year, the final report of the Dublin Citizens' Assembly recommended that 15 specific services, including housing, homelessness, community healthcare, transport, the environment and emergency services, should be devolved to a new Dublin mayor office.
