Failte Ireland: communities need a balance between Airbnbs and private housing

Tourism body says register will provide insight into how much accommodation is available in Ireland

The short-term tourist letting register, which is due to launch this year, will benefit both housing and tourism, Fáilte Ireland is to tell an Oireachtas Committee on Wednesday.

Once legislation is passed, property owners advertising short-term tourism accommodation on sites such as Airbnb for periods up to 21 nights will have a statutory obligation to register their property with Fáilte Ireland.
