Exclusive: Tara Mines wants to cut 200 roles in ‘rescue’ plan to reopen facility

Company to open voluntary severance scheme as part of ‘difficult’ strategy to reopen mine after it was closed last June

The operator of Tara Mines intends to cut around 200 roles as part of a “rescue plan” to get the facility in Co Meath back open by the second quarter of next year.

Boliden, the company that owns the mine, on Friday proposed a voluntary severance scheme as part of a plan to recommence activity at the mine following more than six months of closure.
