The operator of Tara Mines intends to cut around 200 roles as part of a “rescue plan” to get the facility in Co Meath back open by the second quarter of next year.

Boliden, the company that owns the mine, on Friday proposed a voluntary severance scheme as part of a plan to recommence activity at the mine following more than six months of closure.
