European Commission to seek regular updates from data watchdogs on Big Tech investigations

The European Commission is to seek bimonthly updates on Big Tech investigations from all data regulators across the continent following a complaint about its policing of privacy laws from the Irish Council of Civil Liberties (ICCL).

Ireland’s Data Protection Commission (DPC) has already been providing these updates directly to the commission since 2021, but all supervisory authorities will now be required to give them.
