The European Parliament has adopted a historic asylum and migration pact following almost a decade of negotiations.

MEPs gave the green light to a series of legal texts that will set EU-wide standards on the screening and reception of migrants, including a requirement for facial imaging and fingerprinting of children from the age of six.
