Infringement action against Ireland over its failure to correctly implement anti-money laundering laws exposes the government’s “lackadaisical” approach to tackling dirty money, a leading transparency campaigner has said.

Alexander Chance, head of policy and research with Transparency International Ireland, said the European Commission’s decision to begin infringement proceedings against the country was unfortunate but unsurprising.
