EU foreign ministers are readying a package of sanctions targeting Iranian ballistic missiles and the country’s “shadow” wars in the Middle East.

The move follows Iran’s attack on Israel last week, when Tehran launched up to 300 missiles and drones — almost all of which were intercepted, according to Israel — in its first ever direct attack on the country.

Tánaiste Micheál Martin said Ireland backed “a broad range” of sanctions that target key people in Iran and the “shadow war” it was waging by supporting Yemen’s Houthi militants, Lebanese group Hezbollah and Hamas in Palestine.
