An ESB technician who is alleged to have been involved in a corrupt payments scandal is entitled to refuse to answer his employer’s questions, a High Court judge has ruled.

Mr Justice Rory Mulcahy said Kieran Sharkey’s right to silence will end as soon as a criminal investigation into him concludes or when ESB can establish that his contractual obligations outweighs a right to silence.
