Employment rate reaches record high with 2.6m working - CSO

70 per cent of females under 64 have jobs, the highest number recorded

Employment soared by 4.1 per cent in the 12 months to the first quarter of this year, with record numbers of women working, according to CSO data.

There were 2,608,500 persons employed in Ireland as of the end of Q1, a record high and an increase of 102,700 from the year prior, the agency’s Labour Force Survey shows.
