Electric Ireland drops energy prices for businesses, but not for households

Wholesale energy costs have fallen to an 18-month low, but the company said it will keep rates for residential users under review

Electric Ireland is cutting the cost of energy prices from next month for small and medium-sized firms.

The company said that electricity costs will fall by 10 per cent for businesses, while the cost of gas will drop by 15 per cent.

However, the firm decided not to reduce the rates for household consumers.
