Eirgrid weighs up selling its Northern Ireland business

Eirgrid, the national grid operator, is exploring a number of options for the future of its subsidiary transmission business in Northern Ireland, including a possible sale, the Business Post has learned.

The semi-state agency has issued a €3 million tender in recent days. It is seeking to appoint a business consultancy firm to advise on the “demerger” of Eirgrid and its subsidiary company, the System Operator of Northern Ireland (SONI).
