Dublin among 23 cities vying to host two key EU bodies after Brexit

The EU has confirmed that Dublin is among 23 cities vying to host two key EU bodies currently based in Britain – the European Medicines Agency (EMA) andthe European Banking Authority (EBA).

By yesterday’s deadline, 27 proposals had been received from 23 cities to host the bodies. Four cities – Brussels, Dublin, Vienna and Warsaw – applied for both. The government isplanning to spend €78m if it successful in its bid for the EMA, which is responsible for the scientific evaluation, supervision and safety monitoring of medicines across the EU. The EBA works to harmonise banking rules across the EU.
