Donegal County Council nearly terminated its involvement with the state’s €3 billion mica scheme due to the backlash it received from homeowners, it has told the Department of Housing.

In a submission to the department, the local authority said there has been a “significant backlash to the council”, as well as “attacks on its staff”, over the three years since the scheme was first introduced to help fund the remediation of thousands of damaged homes.
