Digicel paid $90 million to Denis O’Brien and related companies over three years

The information is contained in filings submitted to the US Securities and Exchange Commission as part of a complex debt restructuring which will cut Digicel’s debt by $1.7 billion.

Denis O’Brien will stay on as a non-executive director at Digicel for a period of three years under the terms of the deal.

Digicel paid tens of millions of dollars to Denis O’Brien and related companies in the form of bonuses, private jet payments, and the rent on the company’s headquarters, new company filings show.

The filings show that O’Brien and companies connected to him were among the beneficiaries of $90 million paid out by the company over the last three years, including $26.2 million in aircraft costs.
