Digicel, the Caribbean-based mobile phone company, has appointed the chief executive of a leading Colombian mobile phone operator as its new group head.

Marcelo Cataldo will take on the role as group chief executive of the Denis O’Brien founded company on May 1. Cataldo, who is originally from Paraguay, joins from Tigo Colombia, the third largest mobile phone company in Colombia.
