Developers have called for homeowners to be slapped with a new levy on the sale of second-hand houses in a move that could add more than €5,000 to the cost of a property in Dublin.
The Construction Industry Federation (CIF) is pushing the government to introduce a 1 per cent levy in the upcoming budget which would be used to spread the cost of delivering transport and utility infrastructure more evenly.
