Data centres attract €1bn investment into Ireland annually, industry report says

Data centres, which use up 14 per cent of all metered electricity consumption in Ireland, attract around €1 billion in direct investment annually, according to an industry-funded report published this week.

The report, which was produced by the British energy consultancy firm Baringa, also claims data centres help support the transition to a zero-carbon energy system by buying unsubsidised renewable energy directly from suppliers through corporate power purchase agreements (CPPAs) or direct investment in renewable ...
