Darragh O’Brien has said he would consider becoming Ireland’s next European Commissioner if asked by Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin, but insisted that his focus remained on the next general election.

In a wide-ranging interview with the Business Post, the housing minister refused to rule out the possibility of putting his name forward for nomination for the coveted job in Brussels next year.
