CRH, the Irish-headquartered building materials giant, has agreed to sell its European lime operations to SigmaRoc, the specialist quarries material group, in a deal valued at $1.1 billion.

The company's European lime units, which generated sales of roughly $610 million last year, include locations across Ireland, the UK, Germany, Czech Republic and Poland.

The sale - which is subject to regulatory approval - will be conducted in three phases, the company said.
