CRH shares gain 3% on first day of trading in New York valuing the group at almost €39bn

US investors traded more than 8 million shares in the Irish building materials giant on its first day on the New York Stock Exchange

Shares in CRH, the Irish-headquartered building materials giant, rose more than 3 per cent on its first day of trading on the New York Stock Exchange.

On a day that chief executive Albert Manifold described as an “important milestone” for the Irish company, US investors traded more than 8 million shares in CRH on its opening day on the New York Stock Exchange, driving the group’s market value to more than $41 billion (€39 billion).
