Credit Union lending soars to €2.5bn in the past 12 months, says report

Ahead of pending legislation, some credit unions are already offering “very competitive” mortgages

Credit Unions in Ireland issued 400,000 loans worth a total value of €2.5bn in the past 12 months, the Irish League of Credit Union's latest Financial Highlights reveal.

According to the report, this was the highest level of annual lending a decade.

The collective loan book for ILCU-affiliated members at the end of June stood at €5.1 billion. The details were first reported by RTÉ News.
