Financial Services Union has asked the Minister for Enterprise to use the ‘influence of his office’ to stop compulsory redundancies

Simon Coveney: Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment has been asked to try and push Google to implement voluntary rather than compulsory redundancies

A trade union representing a large number of workers at Google has urged Simon Coveney to intervene and urge the global tech giant not to implement any compulsory redundancies as part of its plans to lay off 240 staff in Ireland.

The Financial Services Union (FSU) wrote to the Minister for Enterprise today seeking an “urgent” meeting and asking him to use his influence to push Google to “commit to a voluntary redundancies first approach”.
