Housing minister calls on councils to re-open development plans

The housing minister plans to write to all local authorities in the coming weeks following moves by councils that dezoned land for 100,000 homes near Dublin

Darragh O’Brien has said local authorities need to “open up” recently-completed development plans in order to zone more land for housing so targets can be achieved.

The housing minister’s comments came following concerns raised by developers over several years that large tracts of land earmarked for housing have been dezoned by local authorities over the past several years.
