Council moves to revamp Dublin’s Ambassador Theatre into 900-seat concert venue

Local authority has begun initial engagement with operators of historic building on Parnell Square

In January, the council rejected the plan for a 1.7 metre high railing along the perimeter of the 260-year-old building.

Dublin’s Ambassador Theatre could be revamped as a 900-seat live entertainment venue, according to the head of Dublin City Council.

Speaking to the Business Post, Richard Shakespeare, DCC chief executive, said the local authority had begun initial engagement with the operators of the historic building on Parnell Square.

“We are actively engaged with the operators of the Ambassador [Theatre] to see what we can do up there,” Shakespeare said.
