Consumer confidence is at its highest level in almost two ears, with falling energy prices and grocery price cuts giving shoppers cause for optimism, a new survey has found.

The latest Credit Union consumer sentiment index shows that consumer sentiment rose from 64 per cent in December to 74 per cent in January.
