Doctors may reject the government’s new consultant contract if they are required to work on Saturdays as currently proposed, the Business Post understands.

Last week, the cabinet approved the new public-only consultant contract, which will be worth between €209,915 and €252,150 to consultants for a 37-hour week. The contract is a key pillar of Sláintecare, the cross-party plan to reform the health system and end the two-tier nature of healthcare access.
