Ciara Phelan to leave journalism to become assistant government press secretary

Popular journalist leaving Irish Examiner less than a year before general election

Irish Examiner special correspondent Ciara Phelan is leaving journalism to become a deputy government press secretary, it can be revealed.

Phelan, a former young journalist of the year, will join incoming Taoiseach Simon Harris’ media team alongside Chris Donoghue at the end of the month.
