The Central Bank of Ireland wants the powers to directly contact social media platforms over scams and other illegal content on their platforms under new EU laws.

The regulator has confirmed it is interested in being appointed as an official “trusted flagger” by Ireland’s new online media regulator – which will give it special powers and mean platforms have to prioritise notices that it submits.
